About

I’m Brandon T. Ward, thanks so much for stopping by. You might be wondering why I started this website, and maybe you’re curious about my background, so let’s talk about it.

I started World Events and the Bible back in 2009. The idea was to help other people understand the Bible, and to help them understand this crazy world we live in. The site started out with just a single article, and matured into what it is today.

I thank God for that.

It’s been a tremendous journey! As people, we tend to think we have a handle on things, and then we study, learn about life, and then we realize we have much more to figure out. In fact, I will continue to learn and mature in God’s Word and my understanding of the world until my dying day.

Now for a little background.

I was born into a Christian family. Growing up with my parents, we bounced around a couple of different denominations when I was younger. Around my early teenage years, my family gave up on denominational churches, and I have been non-denominational since.

At the age of 23 or so, I felt I should be studying the Bible, which I was not doing. However, God and prayer have always been a part of my life. I began to ask myself, how do I really know if God is real, and if the Bible is true?

While I was always taught Christian values growing up. When you mature into your own man, you have your own decisions to make in life.

Oddly enough, my Bible studies really started by looking up supposed contradictions in the Bible, and then seeing if I could prove those contradictions wrong. I know, it’s an odd way to become a committed Christian, but that was the route I chose. I just didn’t want to take anyone’s word, I wanted to see for myself if the Bible was true or not. If it is, then there should not be holes in it. That was my rationale.

I never did find any contradictions I couldn’t explain, even back then. I learned many valuable lessons from that. It taught me, if I was going to learn about God, I had to take it seriously. I would have to block out a lot of church tradition, and put in a lot of hard work to ensure what I believe is true and accurate.

Through Bible study and observations about nature, I am convinced, God is real, and the Bible is the Word of God. I was baptized in my late 20s in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I have learned so much from those days long ago. I learned that some of the things I thought were true, were not true. That’s going to happen to you if you immerse yourself in the Scriptures. It’s called the Book of Life for a reason. It offers life through Jesus Christ, and there is so much to learn from this Book that will change your life.

I have to share this, in those early days, I had just started a new job. My background is in Electronics Engineering, and I just got a gig for a major telecommunications company. My co-worker was such an asset, he told me concerning work. If you read the book, you will know more than anyone else. He was talking about the tech manuals.

He was right, but his concept was enlightening. It taught me, if I studied the Bible for myself, I would learn a tremendous amount of information from it. As I circle back after all these years, that was some of the best advice I ever received.

Let me add to it.

I have learned, the only person you can really trust in life is yourself, and above all, God. So my advice to you, just read The Book for yourself. You do not need me or a Pastor to tell you what the Bible says.

These days, we are all blessed with the Bible in numerous languages and formats. There is no reason we cannot read it ourselves. While there is no harm in studying with someone, the best study, is self-study. You may not understand everything you read, but my friends, God knows your heart, (1 Samuel 16:7, Acts 15:8).

Concerning this line of thinking, I have come to this conclusion…

When this life ends and we are back with God, the most important thing that will matter is how well we followed the Great Commandment, (Matthew 22:36-38). Not how well we understood every minute detail that has been translated over and over.

I say that, as there are hundreds of English Bible translations and thousands of denominations, (see: How We Got The Bible And Its History).

Further, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with thousands of people through this website. Through these encounters and my experiences dealing with denominations, I have witnessed so many Christians fight and bicker about the Bible. I am guilty of this myself. Yet, these are vain conversations that do not build up, but tear down, (2 Tim 2:16, 1 Pet 1:15-16, Tit 3:9)

The fact of the matter, there is not a single person who has the entire Bible correct. That means, we all have some level of error. I tell you what, I can live with that. God knows in my heart, I am just trying to understand the Bible, and share it to the best of my ability. I am doing a small part to fulfill the Great Commission, (Matthew 28:19-20).

I hope you can appreciate that.

Credentials And Qualifications

I have been asked, what credentials and qualifications I possess to discuss the Bible.

While I have a B.S. in Electronic Engineering. I personally do not believe in theological “credentials”.

Why?

I have a few reasons.

Jesus did not have credentials.

Further, think about the religious community at the time, they were the professional theologians, and they ensured our Lord and Savior was crucified, (Mark 14:1, 15:1, 3, 10, 14-15).

Then we have the 12 Disciples, none of them had credentials either. In fact, two of them were fishermen. Christ simply told them, “Follow Me”, and they did. They were called for that purpose. They did not need credentials from any church or school. Neither did Jesus require it. In fact, no prophet had any credentials. They were simply called by God to do what they did.

Another reason, there are thousands of Christian denominations, and hundreds of different English Bible translations. All of those Bibles are different, and they are interpreted differently by the readers.

Now which denomination, which Christian school, which Bible, and which interpretation is correct?

I feel we have placed too much value on worldly qualifications. Jesus told us we will know someone’s spirit by their fruits, (Matthew 7:17-20).

It is for these reasons that I do not seek out credentials or titles. I simply let the Bible speak for itself. I ask my readers to be a “Berean,” and to verify what I share in the Scriptures. At times, I’m opening the Strong’s Concordance or diving into the Interlinear Bible.

I always tell my readers, the Bible does not contradict itself, when we find a contradiction, either we have a mistranslation, or we have misunderstood the Word.

I think that’s important.

I try and share the Bible using common sense, logic, and simplicity. Just like Jesus did for all of us.

Welcome

So as I wrap this up, let me say, welcome!

Let me give you a fair warning through, I can be pretty controversial. Every day I discuss religion and politics. Yes, I know. The two most taboo topics. I must have a death wish!

So as you begin reading, keep this in mind. We are never going to agree 100% of the time. Hey, none of us are all right, and none of us are all wrong.

I will guarantee you one thing. The discussions on this website will help you think outside of the box. They are going to challenge your worldview, and help to solidify your faith.

Sincerely,

Brandon T. Ward

Learn To Be A Berean

As Christians, we enjoy fellowship, but remember, our allegiance is to God’s Word. We should be like the Bereans who searched the Scriptures daily.

Are All Sins Equal?

Are All Sins Equal?

All sins are not the same. However, once we sin we become a transgressor of God’s Law. We will find out there are varying punishments for various sins.
